Who Am I to Do That?

A friend and I talked about how to overcome the fear of feeling like we’re not the right person to carry out an idea today. Since we’re both embarking on new career adventures, it was natural that we had these questions.

My answer was, “You just have to trust that you have something to share and that there are people like you out there who are drawn to the same things. There’s a reason for why you’re drawn to this, so there must be someone else out there who is too.”

That question sat in my mind for the rest of the day.

I thought about how our minds process tons of information every day, and how there must be a reason for why certain things stick out to us more than others. Our brains selectively choose certain things to remember, and subconsciously brew ideas in our heads. So if we weren’t passionate about certain things, if we weren’t touched or moved by certain things, then those ideas wouldn’t form in our heads. Essentially, ideas are the products of what resonated with our soul and our unique experiences.

So the next time you find yourself wondering, “Why me?” It’s because you can’t help it. Your subconscious mind literally chose it for you, and the only reason you need to express an idea is simply that it chose you.
